The Next Chapter Starts Now: One Year Inside Archer’s Community Hub:
Long before Archer’s Community Hub existed, I was building JayzWayz Productions in my one bedroom apartment and working with independent artists across Vancouver Island. I met so many incredibly talented people, but I kept seeing the same problem over and over again.
People had talent, but they didn’t always have opportunities.A year ago, I was handed the keys to a building with a whole lot of potential and an even bigger dream. My vision was to create a place where people could come together.
A place where an artist could paint beside a carver. Where a musician could record a song, then walk across the hall and meet a photographer, a videographer, or someone who could help them build a business around their passion. A place where wellness practitioners, community groups, entrepreneurs, Elders, youth, and families all felt like they belonged.
That’s what Archer’s Community Hub is.It’s a community space built on creativity, collaboration, education, wellness, and the belief that we’re stronger when we build together.
When I walk through the building today, I don’t just see rooms anymore. I hear music coming from the studio. I see artists creating downstairs. I see workshops happening, meditation sessions, Friday Night Freestyles, community meetings, live performances, and people meeting each other who probably never would have crossed paths otherwise.
That’s exactly what I hoped this place would become.
Recording music was only one piece of the puzzle. Artists needed mentors. They needed photographers, videographers, websites, branding, performance opportunities, business support, and most importantly, they needed people who believed in them.
Watching those worlds come together has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
More importantly, this project has allowed us to create a space where artists at every stage of their journey feel welcome.
Whether someone is recording their very first song, learning a new skill, connecting with other creatives, or preparing for their next release, we want JayzWayz Productions to be a place where people can learn, create, and grow together.
Over the last few months we’ve already seen the impact. More artists are reaching out, more collaborations are happening, and our community continues to grow every week. Seeing people walk through the doors with an idea and leave feeling inspired reminds us why we started this in the first place.
This Was Never Built Alone
If there’s one thing I’ve learned this past year, it’s that a community hub can’t be built by one person. It’s built by the people who show up.The artists who trusted us,volunteers who gave their time and businesses that partnered with us. The people who came to events, rented our spaces, donated supplies, shared our posts, and told their friends about what we were building.
Every single person who’s walked through these doors has helped build this place. And for that, I can’t thank you enough.
Help Us Build What's Next
Looking back, I’m incredibly proud of everything we’ve accomplished together, but I also know we’re just getting started. We have more artists to support, programs to launch, and more opportunities to create for our community. We’re hopeful that several grant applications will help us continue growing, but while we wait, the reality is simple: the lights still need to stay on, the bills still need to be paid, and the work doesn’t stop.
